Nocturne No. 1 Halter

This swan-like halter is made from radiating hand pleats that suggest a sun rising; they are fine and delicate at the top and grow ever-so-slightly wider at the bottom. 

This shirt exposes the shoulders and back, and erupts in a dramatic plume of folds around the hips. Under this shell of frothy knife pleats is a placket peeking through with tiny shell buttons, evoking the impression of a tailored three-piece suit. This combination of tailoring within the bloom of folds creates a thrilling tension in presentation. A shirt that will convey the wearer’s ability to be both striking and tender at the same time, two opposing energies that dance in harmony.

The inside of the garment reveals a grosgrain ribbon that can be harnessed to make micro-adjustments, and a nearly invisible hook and thread-eye that will keep the garment closed at center front no matter how wild your dance moves become toward the end of the night.

Baked into 100% cotton, the pleats have a crisp, linear crease that will remain pleated even through handwashing (or dry cleaning) - although because this is not a synthetic fabric, this may soften over time. Part of the evolution and process of this sculptural piece.
