The Tailor's Tunic, Black Sea Island Cotton/Silk

This E.M. Reitz tunic has a slightly oversized fit and dropped shoulder. The front of the shirt lays comfortably over the bust; the back has a generous center back pleat creating a beautiful cocoon shape. The front placket is bordered by two deep pin tucks inspired by vintage bed shirts. There is a small pleat on the shoulder - parallel to the placket - creating ease over the bust while adding geometric interest to the shirt. A deep curved slit provides ample room around the hip, high enough to slip your hands into your pant pocket or tuck into the front of your pant.

The shirt is made from the rarest cotton in the world, Sea Island Cotton.

An ancient fiber grown exclusively in Barbados and Jamaica, Sea Island Cotton is strong, fine, and soft. Its average staple fiber length is 37mm, considered an "Extra-Long Staple," creating the softest, smoothest cotton cloth you can find.

This exceptional cotton, blended with silk, is woven by the prestigious mill David and John Anderson. The historical Scottish mill, now owned and operated in Italy, is renowned for its extraordinary raw materials and meticulous attention to technical innovation in weaving. A tag noting this mill is sewn in the underside of the placket.
